SOMETHING OLD AND SOMETHING NEW -- Quilted Placemats

Telling our story -- Traditional Log Cabin Quilt meets African Print Fabric. Complicated, Intriguing, Unusual, Beautiful, Functional -- The log cabin block represents the Underground Railroad and the African Print is mother Africa. The gold border is today and the black squares are tomorrow.

The 11 quilt blocks of the underground railroad included the Log Cabin Block.  When runaway slaves saw the Log Cabin Block displayed it meant that location was safe to hide.

In future blogs I will include the other 10 blocks which are called:  MONEY WRENCH, WAGON WHEEL, TUMBLING BLOCKS, BEAR'S PAW, CROSSROADS, SHOOFLY, BOW TIE, FLYING GEESE, DRUNKARD'S PATH AND STAR.
