Our Story

Launched 8/10/2020, Kali Quilts LLC is a African American family business based in NYC. We sell handcrafted, ready-made and custom baby quilts for the discerning giftgiver and new parent.   Our quilts are made from all natural cotton, and are handcrafted by a quilter with 17 yrs. experience.

Meet The Quilter

That’s me, Ernestine Grant, the chocolate hands behind Kali Quilts. The wonderful African American quilting elders at my church shared with me the joy of quilt making. It was a powerful experience that lit an undying passion within me for making baby quilts.  

Our Goal -- A quilt that baby will love

Our materials are all natural

Our 100% cotton fabric, thread and non-pilling fleece makes our all natural baby quilts the favorite of infants and toddlers.

Our newest specialized equipment

We use two of Bernina's top quilting edition sewing and embroidery machines to expedite the piecing, quilting, and embroidering of our quilts. We use a Serger to seal & secure the quilt edges, then we use specialized binding equipment to apply the baby onesie fabric binding to the quilt.
